"I Know The Buses That Feried ODM Supporters From Kawangware to Kitengela" Esther Passaris Claims

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has admitted that she is aware of several buses and matatus that transported Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters from Nairobi’s Kawangware and Lucky Summer areas to a controversial rally in Kitengela on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Speaking on KTN Prime on Monday evening, Passaris stated: “I know there were a few buses and matatus that ferried ODM supporters to Kitengela from Kawangware and Lucky Summer to attend the rally.”

Her remarks come as ODM grapples with deepening internal divisions following rival rallies held on the same day — one in Kitengela led by embattled ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and allies, and another in Mombasa’s Tononoka Grounds by the party’s mainstream faction.

The Kitengela event, branded under the “Linda Mwananchi” banner, drew large crowds but ended in chaos after anti-riot police lobbed teargas canisters into the gathering, forcing supporters to flee in panic.

Reports indicate injuries, with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka claiming two people were killed and nearly 50 others injured during the dispersal. IPOA has since launched investigations into the incident, including the shooting death of a man identified as Vincent Ayomo.

Sifuna, who has been at the centre of the party rebellion, defied the chaos and maintained he remains the legitimate ODM Secretary General.

During the same KTN Prime interview, Passaris launched a scathing attack on Sifuna, describing him as “an absolute letdown” who believes he is bigger than the party.

“He does not respect party structures and, towards the end, failed to respect the party leader, Baba [Raila Odinga]. Sifuna has allowed his personal views to be communicated as official party positions,” she said.

Fellow ODM loyalist Peter Masara echoed similar sentiments, claiming many of those who attended the Kitengela rally were driven by personal grievances after missing out on party positions.

“Most of them are pushing their own personal agendas, not the public one. Many of them are making noise because they were not given the positions they wanted in the party,” Masara stated.
