Police in Thika East, Kiambu County, are investigating a shocking security breach after thieves broke into the Maguguni Patrol Base and made away with two rifles and several rounds of ammunition.
According to sources within the police service, the break-in happened in the early hours of Wednesday, October 29, but was only discovered later that morning when officers on duty noticed the armoury door had been tampered with.
Upon checking inside, they found a steel storage box broken open and several weapons missing.
Initial reports indicate that the criminals took one AK-47 rifle with 60 rounds of ammunition and one G3 rifle with 20 rounds, along with a few empty magazines.

Investigators believe the gang might have had inside help, as the armoury was located inside a fenced and guarded police facility.
A senior officer confirmed that a detailed report was filed under OB number 02/29/10/2025. The report shows the officer on night patrol first became suspicious after hearing dogs barking near the compound.
