Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has fired a fresh salvo at President William Ruto, telling him to allow Uhuru Kenyatta to address Kenyans as the legitimate Jubilee Party leader.
Natembeya dismissed those trying to silence Uhuru, saying the former president has both followers and constitutional rights to engage in politics.
He pointed out that Jubilee belongs to Uhuru and anyone who wants to hear from him should be allowed to do so.
"Wacha Uhuru aongeleshe wakenya kwa sababu yeye ndio mwenye Jubilee party," Natembeya said, adding that it does not have to be Ruto speaking for Kenyans on every matter.
Ruto Also Warned
Natembeya went further, warning Ruto that even after leaving office next year, he will retain his right to speak on national issues.
"Ata wewe Ruto tukikupeleka nyumbani next year hatutakunyima haki ya kutoa maoni yako kama Mkenya kuhusu serikali," he said.
A Pattern of Boldness
This is not the first time Natembeya has clashed with the Kenya Kwanza administration. He previously claimed that individuals linked to Ruto had been trailing him and even expressed fears for his safety, yet vowed he would not be silenced.
Meanwhile, Uhuru on May 1 defended his right to remain active in politics, insisting he leads Jubilee and has the freedom to speak and associate with the party.
The political temperature ahead of 2027 is clearly rising.
