What Wahome Thuku Said After Mt Kenya People Went To See President Ruto At State House

Political analyst Wahome Thuku has raised a thought-provoking question following the visit of an estimated 10,000 people from Kirinyaga to State House to meet President William Ruto.

Thuku made it clear that he has no issue with the visit itself, even expressing hope that all those who attended were registered voters. However, his concern cuts much deeper than the event itself.

He posed a sharp and revealing question, if those same 10,000 people were asked to choose between three presidential candidates just four hours after leaving State House, how many votes would Ruto actually receive?

The question was pointed and deliberate. The underlying message is that hospitality at State House and genuine political support are two very different things. People can enjoy a visit, take photos, eat, and celebrate and still walk away unconvinced about who deserves their vote.

Thuku then extended the question further to the real test, the August 10, 2027 General Election. When those same 10,000 people step into the voting booth, how many will actually vote for Ruto?

It is a question that strips away the pageantry of State House visits and forces a more honest conversation about where Mount Kenya's political loyalty truly stands heading into the next election cycle.

The region has historically been a decisive factor in Kenya's presidential contests, and politicians on all sides are keenly aware of its significance.

Thuku's remarks suggest that large crowds and State House invitations should not be mistaken for solid political support. When the curtain closes and voters face the ballot box alone, the numbers may tell a very different story.
