The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced that rainfall is expected to continue in several parts of the country in the next seven days, from February 17 to February 23, 2026.

In its weekly weather forecast shared on its X account on Monday, KMD said the rains will mainly affect Western Kenya, the Central Highlands including Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of the South-eastern lowlands.

Other affected counties are Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

The forecast also shows that parts of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi counties will receive rainfall during the same period.

In the South-eastern lowlands, rainfall is expected in parts of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties.

However, the department noted that North-eastern and North-western Kenya are likely to experience generally sunny and dry weather conditions.

At the same time, hot daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in several parts of the country. These include the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, and North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

The department also warned that some areas will experience cold nights. Night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The weather department advised residents to expect changing weather conditions depending on their location during the forecast period.
