Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has mocked President William Ruto over what he claims is being abandoned even by his own people.
This follows Ruto's complains in Bomet, where he lamented the Rift Valley region's low turnout in the concluded voter registration exercise.
Gachagua claims this is a sign that Ruto is not in charge even in his own home turf, maintaining that he has lost support in almost all other parts of Kenya.
According to the DCP leader, Ruto is also paying for abandoning his own region and focusing on other areas as he works towards his 2027 reelection bid.
"I saw Ruto lamenting in Bomet after being rejected by all Kenyans and being forced to return home in shame.
The people are wondering why he's complaining yet he only goes back home to attend funerals and church services," he is quoted by The People Daily.
Ruto, while in Bomet, bashed the Rift Valley for not doing enough to help him remain in office, forcing him to seek help elsewhere, in reference to ODM.
“You’re giving me a tough job, struggling to seek support elsewhere while I have people back home. No, it shouldn’t be like this,” Ruto stated.
Ruto pointed out that there are 1.5 million people in Rift Valley, who despite being national ID holders, are yet to register as voters.
The Head of State also disclosed that another 500,000 young people who have attained the voting age are yet to pick their ID cards, disadvantaging his reelection bid.
The development has pleased Gachagua, who has been leading ongoing attempts to unseat Ruto following their 2024 fallout.
