Tension and mistrust have rocked the United Opposition following claims that some of its top leaders are secretly working with President William Ruto.
The allegations were raised by DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka, who warned of infiltration within the opposition ranks.
However, the two leaders stopped short of naming those allegedly involved, triggering anxiety and suspicion among coalition members.
Gachagua claimed that the President has strategically infiltrated opposition parties to sow confusion and weaken unity ahead of the next General Election.
He also took aim at leaders who have been criticising him, arguing that such individuals could be acting as moles instead of focusing on challenging Ruto’s administration.
On his part, Kalonzo accused the Head of State of employing a divide-and-rule tactic designed to cripple the opposition and derail its chances in the upcoming polls.
The standoff has exposed deep cracks within the opposition, with factions trading accusations and questioning each other’s loyalty.
