Residents of Kileleshwa, Nairobi, were left in shock after a woman died following a suspected domestic dispute in one of the area’s residential high-rise buildings.
The tragic incident happened late at night after an argument involving a suspected love triangle reportedly turned violent.
According to early reports, the woman is said to have been inside the apartment with her husband when a heated quarrel broke out.
Neighbors claimed they heard loud screams, sounds of objects being thrown, and desperate cries for help moments before the woman fell from the upper floor of the building.
Witnesses said the woman landed on the ground floor parking area, where security guards and residents rushed to help her. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but she was pronounced dead shortly after due to severe injuries.
Police officers from the area arrived soon after and cordoned off the scene as investigations began. Detectives are treating the case as suspicious and have arrested the husband for questioning.
Authorities said they are also looking into claims that the couple had been arguing over another romantic relationship, which may have fueled the deadly confrontation.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
Police also collected evidence from the apartment, including broken household items believed to have been damaged during the fight.
Neighbors described the couple as private people who mostly kept to themselves. However, some residents said they had heard arguments from the apartment on several occasions in the past, though none had ever imagined it would end in such tragedy.
The incident has sparked fresh concern over rising domestic violence cases in the city. Human rights groups and family counselors have continued to urge couples facing relationship conflicts to seek help before situations become dangerous.
Police have appealed to members of the public with any information about the events leading to the woman’s death to come forward and assist with investigations.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be presented in court once investigations are complete.
