Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sparked fresh political tremors after publicly expressing what appears to be regret over his handling of disputes, in a rare and candid admission made during a burial ceremony in Ol Kalou.
In a sharply worded statement, Gachagua revealed that he had previously reported National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah to President William Ruto, only to conclude that the effort was futile.
“Yesterday I reported Ichung’wah to Ruto, but it was pointless because the person who sends him is Ruto,” Gachagua declared, hinting at deep-seated frustrations within the ruling coalition.
Gachagua’s tone suggested a growing realization that his grievances against Ichung’wah may not find resolution at the highest level of government, raising questions about his influence within the administration.
Observers interpret the statement as both a direct attack on Ichung’wah’s authority and an indirect critique of President Ruto’s leadership style. The public nature of the outburst signals escalating tensions that could reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
