"Ulisikia Wapi" Caleb Amisi Responds Amid Rumours Of Launching New Party Under Linda Mwananchi Movement

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dismissed claims linking him and his allies to the registration of a new political party named Linda Mwananchi.

In a statement shared on his social media pages on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Amisi said neither he nor leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement had applied to register the party.

He described the move as an attempt to mislead the public and create confusion within the opposition.

Reports had indicated that an application had been submitted to the Registrar of Political Parties seeking to reserve the name Linda Mwananchi.

The name is widely linked to a vocal faction within Orange Democratic Movement that has been critical of the party’s recent political direction.

The Linda Mwananchi wing includes Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and other leaders who have questioned the working relationship between Orange Democratic Movement and the United Democratic Alliance.

Amisi made it clear that the group has no connection to the party registration process. He urged supporters to ignore the reports and remain focused on internal reforms within ODM.

The development comes at a time when ODM is facing visible internal divisions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, ODM lawmakers held a parliamentary group meeting at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi to address tensions within the party. Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi attended the meeting and called for unity and a clear strategy for the future.
