Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka briefly halted his speech in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru, after an excited crowd broke into loud chants moments after he mentioned President William Ruto.
Kalonzo had been addressing residents at Heshima grounds when he turned his focus to the 2027 General Election.
As he spoke about the opposition’s push to unseat the Head of State, the mood in the gathering shifted.
Supporters began chanting “Wantam,” a slogan that has increasingly been used by critics of the current administration to suggest that President Ruto should serve only one term.
The Wiper Party leader leaned into the moment, asking the crowd to show by a raise of hands how many agreed with the chant. The response was overwhelming.
People waved their hands, whistled, and shouted back at him in unison. Sensing the energy in the field, Kalonzo called on the DJ to play the “Wantam” song, further whipping up the atmosphere.
Music filled the venue and supporters burst into dance. The chants grew louder, temporarily drowning out the politician’s voice.
For several minutes, Kalonzo stood back, smiling and occasionally joining in the chorus as the crowd sang and moved to the rhythm.
The rally resumed once calm returned, but the brief interruption underscored the charged political climate as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
The event in Nakuru reflected the growing boldness of opposition supporters who are openly rallying around the message of change in 2027.
