The demonstrations broke out on Friday night when angry residents stormed the station to protest rising insecurity in the area.

During the demonstrations, a female protester said young people below the age of twenty-five were dying while the government that was expected to protect citizens appeared to be failing in its duty.
She added that the residents would not stop protesting and demanded that the police officers stationed at the facility leave before the night ended.
Following the attack, the Ministry of Interior warned that those involved in acts of violence would face the full force of the law.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo said investigations into the deadly protests have begun and urged residents to seek dialogue with security agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands.
