"You Finished Your Ruling Terms, Go Home & Retire From Politics" Vocal MP Slams Uhuru

Ukambani MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has openly criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta, calling on him to retire from active politics.

Speaking during an event in Isiolo, Mutuse stated that Uhuru has served his terms and should now step aside to allow younger leaders to take the lead.

“Uhuru has finished his two terms in office. He should go home and retire,” Mutuse said, drawing applause from attendees.

The MP expressed concern over the former president’s continued involvement in politics, arguing that it risks overshadowing new leadership within the country.

Mutuse’s remarks come amid reports that Uhuru is actively engaging with political leaders and is expected to support the United opposition coalition in its bid to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.

He warned that persistent involvement in partisan politics could divert attention from national issues that need urgent solutions.

The Ukambani legislator called on politicians to respect constitutional limits and to focus on serving their constituents rather than pursuing personal political agendas.

He emphasized the importance of grooming the next generation of leaders to ensure Kenya’s political stability and continuity.

Mutuse’s statements are the latest in a series of public opinions criticizing Uhuru’s political maneuvers since leaving State House.

Many Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions, with some agreeing that former leaders should take a step back, while others believe experienced politicians like Uhuru still have a role to play in shaping the country’s future.

As the 2027 general elections approach, political tensions are rising, and comments like those from Mutuse are likely to spark further debate over the influence of former leaders in Kenya’s political landscape.

The event in Isiolo highlighted the growing voices calling for a clear distinction between retired leaders and active politicians as the nation prepares for another critical election cycle.
