Mt Kenya Warned, Told What Might Befall Them if They Fail to Reelect Ruto in 2027

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has predicted tough times ahead if the Mt Kenya community fails to help reelect President William Ruto in the fast approaching 2027 general election.

Waiguru has said that the region owes Ruto 10 years in power, as a way of thanking him for helping former President Uhuru Kenyatta stay in power for 2 terms between 2013 to 2022.

She has stressed the need for the region to keep the promise it made to Ruto after his support for Uhuru, terming it the only way to give themselves a good political outlook.

According to her the outcome of reneging on the vow will be the region losing it's respect among Kenyans, saying no one will trust them any more and other regions will isolate them for being betrayers.

“Uhuru himself said ‘yangu kumi, ya Ruto kumi’. As Mt Kenya, we must honour our promise.

Politics is about trust, and once you break trust, no one takes you seriously again,” she is quoted by Citizen Digital.

She spoke during the launch of the Mutithi Health Centre maternity wing in Mwea.

In her view, supporting Ruto is the only way Mt Kenya can be part of the next government, cautioning that not even their numbers can make hand them the presidency if they choose to go it alone.

“We may have the numbers, but numbers alone cannot build a government.

If Mt Kenya becomes known for breaking agreements, other communities will simply walk away from us."

But this comes at a time when the region seems to be regrouping behind DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, who has vowed to use everything in his arsenal to ensure Ruto loses in 2027.
