"Ruto, Tutam" Tension As Top ODM Governor Forced To Cut Speech Short After Rowdy Youths Began Making These Chants

A political rally in Siaya took an unexpected turn after a group of youths interrupted leaders with chants praising President William Ruto.

The gathering, which was attended by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, had drawn a sizeable crowd eager to listen to the leaders address local and national issues.

Moments after Governor Orengo began addressing residents, chants of “Ruto, Tutam” erupted from a section of the crowd. The chants quickly grew louder, drawing mixed reactions from those in attendance.

While some residents attempted to quiet the group, others appeared amused by the unfolding situation, creating a tense atmosphere at the venue.

Orengo tried to continue with his address but struggled to maintain the crowd’s attention as the chants persisted.

The governor was eventually forced to end his speech earlier than planned to allow organisers to restore calm.

Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna, who were also scheduled to speak, faced a restless audience as political rivalry became evident during the rally.

The incident highlights growing political competition in the region, which has traditionally been viewed as a stronghold of opposition politics.

Leaders at the event urged residents to remain respectful during public forums and allow differing political views to be expressed without disruption.

Local organisers later appealed for calm, stressing the importance of peaceful engagement as political campaigns continue to gather momentum across the country.
