"Stop Cheating Kalonzo, You Never Made Raila President While You're In Power" ODM Governor To Uhuru

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta over his renewed involvement in opposition politics.

Speaking during a public event, Barasa said Uhuru should stop misleading opposition leaders, especially Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He said Uhuru has no record of helping anyone win the presidency, even when he was still in power.

Barasa was reacting to Uhuru’s recent public moves showing interest in supporting a united opposition.

The opposition talks are being led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka as they plan early for the 2027 General Election.

The governor reminded Kenyans that Uhuru fully supported ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election.

Despite using his influence as the sitting president, Raila lost the race to President William Ruto. Barasa said this shows that Uhuru’s political support does not guarantee victory.

“Uhuru could not help Raila become president when he had power.

Now he says he will help Kalonzo become president, yet they are both out of government,” Barasa said.

He warned Kalonzo and other opposition leaders to be careful and not depend too much on promises from former leaders.

Barasa said winning an election needs strong support from the people, clear plans and hard work on the ground.

Uhuru has recently been meeting opposition leaders and calling for unity against the Kenya Kwanza government. His actions have sparked debate on whether he should return to active politics after leaving office.

Barasa’s comments show growing disagreements within the opposition as leaders try to position themselves for the 2027 elections, with many questioning who still has real political influence.
