"I'm Going To Run For Senator Position In 2027" Vocal Nairobi MCA Says Infront Of Ruto

Nairobi County Assembly Member Hon. Roro has officially declared his intention to run for the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, signaling a direct challenge to current Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The announcement was made today during a church service in Embakasi attended by President William Ruto.

Speaking to congregants, Hon. Roro emphasized his commitment to serving Nairobi residents and criticized the current senator for what he described as a history of attacks on President Ruto’s government.

“It is time for leadership that unites rather than divides.

I am stepping forward to ensure Nairobians have representation that aligns with their interests and supports development initiatives,” Roro said.

The MCA’s move comes amid growing political tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where Senator Sifuna, despite serving as the party’s Secretary General, has reportedly defied party resolutions by collaborating with President Ruto’s administration.

This action has drawn criticism from various quarters, with Roro and his supporters claiming it reflects inconsistency in Sifuna’s political stance.

Political analysts suggest that Roro’s declaration is likely to intensify the Nairobi political landscape, setting the stage for a high-profile contest in 2027.

His campaign, they note, may capitalize on dissatisfaction among some ODM supporters and Nairobi residents who feel underrepresented by the current leadership.

While Roro’s political experience is primarily at the county level, his supporters argue that his grassroots engagement and visibility in local initiatives position him as a strong contender for the senatorial seat.

As the 2027 elections approach, the rivalry between Roro and Sifuna is expected to dominate Nairobi’s political discourse, drawing attention from both national leaders and the electorate.

The coming months will be critical in shaping alliances and voter sentiment, with both candidates likely to engage in vigorous campaigns to secure Nairobi’s Senate seat.
