"Oburu Is Only Doing What Raila Started, He Hasn't Done Anything Wrong" Political Analyst

Political analyst Fwamba NC Fwamba has weighed in on the latest political developments involving the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying Oburu Odinga’s recent remarks have settled much of the speculation that followed the passing of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In a strong statement, Fwamba said Oburu Odinga made it clear that ODM’s decision to work with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration is driven by good intentions and not a hunger for power.

According to the analyst, the move is aimed at helping improve the country through cooperation rather than constant confrontation with the government.

“Oburu Odinga has settled much of the speculation with a powerful statement.

He says ODM is joining Kenya Kwanza with good intentions, aimed at improving the country rather than antagonising the government out of greed for power,” Fwamba said.

ODM recently declared that it will work under President Ruto’s broad-based government until 2027 and beyond, a position that has sparked mixed reactions across the political divide.

While some supporters see the move as a betrayal of opposition politics, others view it as a practical step towards national unity and stability.

Fwamba noted that the decision also brings clarity to President Ruto’s political strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.

He said the inclusion of ODM in government makes Ruto’s plan more organised and strengthens his bid for a second term.

“This also makes President Ruto’s 2027 strategy clearer and more organised,” Fwamba added.

The analyst argued that Kenya’s current economic and social challenges require cooperation across political lines, rather than endless rivalry.

He said ODM’s choice to engage the government could help push key reforms and development projects that benefit ordinary Kenyans.

As the country adjusts to a new political reality, all eyes will now be on how the broad-based government functions and whether the partnership between ODM and Kenya Kwanza will deliver the promised unity, stability and development in the years leading to 2027 and beyond.
