Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang' has claimed that the late Raila Odinga had not given up on the presidency at the time of his demise.
Kajwang' claims that actually, Raila was planning to once again run for presidency in the 2027 general election.
The leader says at no point did Raila say he would support President William Ruto's reelection bid, and instead wanted ODM to seize power from the reigning Head of State in 2027.
According to Kajwang', the former Prime Minister was even in the process of identifying the friends he would form alliances with with the goal of unseating Ruto.
“Raila was very clear in his mind that in 2027, we were going to take over power by walking with like-minded friends and formations.
At no time did he tell us that it is going to be a two-term,” he is quoted by the People Daily.
He has at the same time stated that the coalition would most unlikely include the current opposition leaders, whom he says Raila had issues with, specifically because of their type of politics.
“He had a problem with the one-term brigade, particularly the tribal chauvinist within the one-term brigade.”
This now makes him a member of the ODM faction opposed to the party forming a 2027 alliance with Ruto and his UDA party.
On the other hand is the faction fighting to be in Ruto's government should be he reelected, which is led by new Party Leader Oburu Oginga, who is Raila's elder brother.
