Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was earlier today warmly received by thousands of boda boda riders and local residents in Kajiado County, in a lively political tour that marked the opening of a new constituency office for the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
The former Deputy President, who is currently intensifying his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 political season, arrived in Kajiado to a jubilant crowd that lined the roads singing and chanting his name.
Security was heightened in the area as supporters gathered in large numbers, waving placards and party flags.
During the visit, Gachagua officially opened the new DCP office, a move that party officials say is aimed at strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots level and improving coordination with supporters across the region.
The office is expected to serve as a key mobilisation and service point for party activities in Kajiado and surrounding areas.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leadership, represented by local officials, said the opening of the office marks a major milestone in expanding the party’s national footprint.
They described Kajiado as a strategic region due to its growing population and its importance in national politics.
After the opening ceremony, Gachagua proceeded to address residents in an open-air rally where he focused on issues affecting ordinary citizens, including cost of living, youth unemployment, and support for small-scale traders and boda boda operators.
He praised the residents for their enthusiasm and urged them to remain politically engaged.
Boda boda riders, who formed a significant part of the crowd, expressed their support, saying they hope the new political engagements will bring solutions to their daily economic challenges.
Gachagua is expected to continue with his tour of the region as he seeks to strengthen support for DCP across the country.
