Everose confirmed her husband’s passing on the evening of May 1, 2026, stating that he had been pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital where he had worked for many years.
A message shared on her social media account, she indicated that she was unable to respond to calls or messages and asked the public to keep her family in their prayers during the difficult period.
Dr Obwaka was a well-known gynaecologist and a former director at a leading Nairobi hospital, where he built a long and respected career in the medical field.
His death has since sparked widespread interest, both because of his professional standing and the circumstances surrounding his final moments.
Everose had previously come into the spotlight in March 2026 during her husband’s legal troubles.
At the time, she spoke out after his arrest, describing the distress experienced by the family when he was taken away by officers.
Their son, Chris Obwaka, also stood by his father throughout the court proceedings and during his subsequent hospital stay.
Investigations into Dr Obwaka’s death are ongoing. Police have identified a woman who was reportedly with him at the time he collapsed.
The woman has told investigators that she had known the doctor for several years and was with him in Kitengela shortly before his condition worsened.
