Storm Over Tuju’s Land: Nyong’o Alleges State Plot to Seize Property

A political storm is brewing after Anyang' Nyong'o publicly accused the government of weaponising state institutions to allegedly extort property belonging to former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.

In a strongly worded statement, the Anyang' Nyong'o claimed that the dispute surrounding Tuju’s multi-billion-shilling property was no longer a simple commercial disagreement but had escalated into what he described as an abuse of power.

According to the governor, state agencies are being used to pressure Tuju into surrendering his assets.

Nyong’o argued that such actions, if true, undermine the rule of law and send a dangerous message about the protection of private property in Kenya. He warned that political interference in legal and financial disputes could erode public trust in institutions meant to safeguard justice and fairness.

The controversy centers on property linked to Tuju that has been at the center of a prolonged financial dispute involving creditors and lenders.

However, the former minister has maintained that the actions taken against him go beyond normal legal processes and appear coordinated to strip him of his property.

In recent days, Tuju has spoken out about what he calls intimidation and irregular attempts to take control of his assets. The matter has since drawn attention from political leaders and legal experts, with many questioning whether due process is being followed.

Nyong’o urged the government to allow the courts to handle the issue independently without pressure from state organs. He emphasized that Kenya’s democracy depends on strong institutions that operate without political manipulation.

As the controversy grows, the dispute is quickly turning into a broader national debate about property rights, political power, and the independence of state agencies.

Whether the claims are proven or dismissed, one thing is clear: the unfolding battle over Tuju’s property has ignited a political fire that could expose deeper tensions within Kenya’s governance and legal systems.
