Storm Brewing in Nairobi: Ndindi Nyoro’s Entry Sparks Questions Over Babu Owino’s Strategy

Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba hint at a possible shake-up in the city’s 2027 leadership race. Speaking amid rising speculation, Orwoba pointed to growing rumors that Ndindi Nyoro could shift his political focus to the capital—an entry that could dramatically alter the dynamics.

According to Orwoba, Nyoro’s perceived cross-community appeal may give him a strategic edge in Nairobi’s diverse political landscape.

“He has goodwill among all communities,” she noted, suggesting that such influence could pose a direct challenge to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who is also widely believed to harbor gubernatorial ambitions.

However, while Babu Owino commands strong support among young voters, questions are emerging about the structure of his potential ticket.

Orwoba raised concerns about what she described as a lingering perception problem: that his candidacy may require the backing of a more seasoned political figure to reassure a broader electorate.

“The challenge he’s having is that there’s a fear his candidature must have an older person,” Orwoba remarked, raising the critical question—who would deputize him?

The comments have ignited debate across political circles, with analysts suggesting that Nairobi’s race could evolve into a generational contest, pitting youthful energy against seasoned political networks.

Nyoro’s potential entry, though still unconfirmed, adds a layer of intrigue, especially given his reputation as a calculated and disciplined strategist.

As political alignments quietly begin to take shape, all eyes are now on both camps. Will Babu Owino recalibrate his approach and secure a running mate who balances experience with his youthful appeal? Or will Ndindi Nyoro’s rumored move redefine the race before it even officially begins?
