Senator Maanzo Names a Governor Who's Positioning Herself to Deputize Ruto in 2027

Speaking during a morning political discussion on Citizen TV Kenya, Senator Dan Maanzo suggested that the Homa Bay governor has been working strategically with national leaders with a hidden aim.

Dan Maanzo has claimed that Gladys Wanga, the Homa Bay Governor, is positioning herself to become the running mate of William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

According to Maanzo, Wanga’s recent political engagements and her close interactions with leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration could signal her ambitions to occupy the Deputy President slot in the next election cycle.

He argued that these moves show a deliberate effort to build national visibility and political goodwill ahead of 2027.

The senator also addressed the growing debate about the relationship between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Maanzo stated that ODM leaders believe the party is strong enough to compete independently in future elections without relying on UDA.

He added that some ODM members are pushing for the party to secure the deputy president position should any political cooperation emerge between the two sides. Otherwise, he argued, ODM would be better off forming its own government coalition.

The remarks come amid increasing political realignments and early positioning among Kenyan leaders as the 2027 race slowly begins to take shape.
