A young man is fighting for his life in hospital after a violent attack that shocked residents of Umoja 1 Estate in Nairobi.
Steve Godia said the incident happened at his rented house. What started as a tense talk with his girlfriend quickly turned tragic.
According to Steve, the woman demanded to know whether he was still involved with an ex-girlfriend.He said the argument grew heated late at night before the attack happened.
Police are investigating the case as attempted murder and grievous assault.
Ten days after the report was made, the suspect is still missing, leaving the family worried and frustrated.
Steve said love turned into horror on a day meant for celebration.
He explained that he believed the meeting would help settle differences in their relationship but instead ended in violence that almost cost him his life.
Godia said it was his girlfriend who burnt him because she felt his explanation about his ex-girlfriend was not enough and believed she felt disrespected during the conversation.
He said the pain was unbearable and his injuries severe, explaining that the water was extremely hot and that by the next morning his eyes and entire face were swollen, leaving him unable to see, with the wounds causing intense pain.
CCTV cameras reportedly captured the woman leaving the compound moments after the attack.
Steve identified her as Gladwell Kagai, someone he said he had trusted for three years.
He also claimed she took two phones and transferred more than Ksh.300,000 from his account, saying he later realised all his money had been transferred, leaving him with only Ksh.7, and that he wanted the suspect arrested and presented in court.
Steve, a third-year student at Multimedia University of Kenya, has missed exams due to the injuries and is appealing for justice as police continue investigation
