"I Admire Sifuna Because He Has Raila's Spirit" Says Kalonzo Musyoka (VIDEO)

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has thrown his full support behind Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, expressing strong admiration for the outspoken ODM Secretary General as intense internal conflicts continue to rock the Orange Democratic Movement.

Speaking during an Exclusive Interview with Professor Herman Manyora, Musyoka praised Sifuna as a “spirited” and fearless voice in Kenyan politics.

He warned that ejecting Sifuna from ODM would mean the party is abandoning its fundamental principles and pushing away a new generation of young Kenyans who view him as the symbol of courageous opposition.

“As Secretary General of ODM, I can see a very spirited effort to throw him out of ODM,” Musyoka said. “If they throw Sifuna out of ODM, my summation is they have thrown out the ideas right.”

The comments came shortly after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal issued a significant ruling in the prolonged Sifuna dispute.

The tribunal dismissed Sifuna’s urgent application seeking to block his removal, but added an important condition: ODM cannot officially notify the Registrar of Political Parties about his ouster until all internal party dispute resolution processes are fully completed.

As a result, Sifuna continues to hold the position of ODM Secretary General at least formally even though party sources say disciplinary proceedings against him have already been activated.

The ongoing turmoil stems from growing factional battles within ODM that intensified after leadership transitions at the party’s National Delegates Conference.

Sifuna, who has occupied the Secretary General post since 2018, has emerged as a leading figure resisting what he and his supporters see as efforts to marginalize progressive elements and shift the party away from its original support base.

His repeated public confrontations, including high-profile clashes in the Senate and sharp criticism of the party’s current direction, are said to have sped up attempts to replace him.

ODM leaders from the Western region have already voiced their backing for Sifuna and skipped the March 27 National Delegates Conference, highlighting serious divisions within the party.

At the same time, indications suggest that Sifuna’s faction is being approached by various opposition players as part of a wider reorganization of Azimio La Umoja ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Musyoka himself had earlier been appointed Azimio leader in a disputed move that the Oburu Odinga wing of ODM rejected, leading to warnings of a possible formal exit from the coalition.
