"Calculate The Amount Of Money UDA Will Use To Win" Amisi Reacts As IEBC Seeks 60M For Emurua Polls

Caleb Amisi has reacted to reports that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is seeking nearly Sh60 million to conduct the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election.

The seat became vacant after the death of Johanna Ngeno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr. Ngeno died in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County. The aircraft went down during bad weather and six people lost their lives in the tragic accident.

The late legislator was buried on Friday in his home area in Narok County. His burial attracted leaders, family members and residents who gathered to mourn a man many described as a committed leader who served his constituency with dedication.

Following the vacancy, the electoral body has begun preparations for a by-election in the constituency. Acting IEBC Chief Executive Officer Moses Sunkuli confirmed that the commission requires about Sh59.3 million to organize the poll.

The funds will support key activities needed to run the election. These include voter education, training of election officials, printing ballot papers and transporting election materials to polling stations across the constituency.

Security arrangements and payment of temporary staff will also take a large share of the budget. The commission must also prepare polling centers and deploy officials to supervise the voting process.

Amisi reacted strongly after the funding request became public. Through his social media platform, the outspoken legislator questioned how much money political players might spend during the by-election campaign.
