Following the eviction of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju from his residence, High Court advocate Willis Otieno voiced his concerns. Reports state that more than 20 police officers broke into Karen's house and forced him to leave in the middle of the night.
This action alarmed leaders, who spoke out on social media. Speaking on X (previously Twitter), Mr. Willis stated that the office of Kenya's Chief Justice and President of the Judiciary, Martha Koome, must handle this issue with the urgency it requires.
Mr. Willis claims that the public's suspicion that shady brokers and compromised court officials are manipulating the legal system would only grow if there was quiet or tardy response.
The advocate confirmed that a judge has no moral or constitutional right to continue serving on the bench, even for a single day, if they are in fact requesting KSh 10 million to sway a decision.
He made the declaration in response to Tuju's allegation that the judge presiding over the case had requested Ksh 10 million from him. Senior Counsel Karua stated that the police cannot remove anyone without a court warrant when speaking on social media.
