Why Sifuna Wants to Join United Opposition Camp Despite Push to Vie for Presidecy

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has signalled his intention to join United Opposition camp as leaders begin early political alignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Edwin Sifuna, who has recently gained significant popularity both on social media and at the grassroots, has faced increasing calls from supporters urging him to consider a presidential bid.

However, the Senator has maintained that unity within the opposition remains more important than individual ambitions at this stage.

Speaking during an interview, Sifuna warned that a split in opposition could easily hand President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza camp a smooth path to re-election in 2027.

He noted that while Ruto remains a strong political strategist, the biggest advantage for the ruling side would come from a divided opposition front.

The Nairobi Senator emphasised the need for a structured and organised alliance, revealing that consultations are ongoing within his camp and among like-minded leaders.

According to him, early coordination and strategic planning will be key in building a formidable coalition capable of mounting a serious challenge in the next election.

Sifuna’s remarks come at a time when opposition figures are increasingly engaging in joint rallies and political tours in Gusii regions while counting Sifuna's camp as their allies.
