"We Need A Strong DP Not A Flower Girl Like Kindiki" Mt Kenya UDA MP Says, Details

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya has sparked fresh political debate after criticizing the role of the Deputy President in President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking during an interview on Morning Cafe on TV47 Kenya, Gakuya said the country needs a strong and independent Deputy President who can offer firm advice to the Head of State.

“We need a Deputy President who is neither a ‘flower girl’ nor a ‘yes man.’ We need a DP who is firm and can stand up to Ruto, advising him in the right direction,” Gakuya stated.

The outspoken MP further claimed that many Cabinet Secretaries in the current government act as “flower girls,” suggesting they rarely challenge the President’s decisions. According to him, real leadership requires constructive criticism and honest counsel at the highest levels of government.

Gakuya’s remarks come at a time when questions have been raised in political circles about the influence and visibility of the Deputy President’s office. His comments are likely to fuel further debate within Kenya Kwanza and the broader political landscape.

The Embakasi North lawmaker has in recent months positioned himself as a vocal figure on governance and accountability matters.

His latest statement adds to growing calls from some leaders who believe the Deputy President should play a more active and independent advisory role.

It remains to be seen how leaders within President Ruto’s camp will respond to the comments, which have already drawn attention across social media platforms.
