President William Ruto's aide, Faruk Kibet, has slammed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly staging attacks at his functions to attract sympathy and attention ahead of the upcoming General Elections.
On February 8, 2026, Kibet claimed that the former Deputy President of Kenya staged a church attack in Othaya, Nyeri County.
He claimed that Rigathi's people fired a teargas at the church and blamed it on the police.
Meanwhile, Rigathi has threatened to stage protests in the country if the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, does not arrest the suspects who were involved in the attack.
The former Deputy President claimed that the government sent a squad of police whom he said tried to kill him.
He called on Kenyans to work with the opposition in the upcoming general elections, stating that he already informed the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, about the incident.
According to reports, Rigathi had attended a church service in Nyeri County before he was allegedly attacked by goons. He fled from the scene.
Several vehicles were damaged in the process. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen ordered an investigation into the incident, saying the government will not tolerate such acts.
