"Nani Amesema?" Caleb Amisi Reacts to PHOTOs Of Youths Wearing T-shirts Printed With a Raila, Ruto's Image

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has publicly responded to images circulating on social media showing Kenyan youths donning T-shirts emblazoned with the late opposition leader's likeness.

These tributes, which have gained traction among younger demographics, particularly in regions like Trans Nzoia and Nairobi, symbolize continued admiration for Odinga's legacy amid internal party tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The photos in question depict groups of youths, including members of the Kenyan reggae community, wearing matching apparel featuring Raila's portrait as a form of homage.

According to reports, the reggae enthusiasts visited Odinga's gravesite one month after his passing, clad in these T-shirts while chanting slogans like "Nobody can stop reggae!"—a nod to Odinga's famous rallying cry for political reform.

This act of remembrance highlights how Odinga's influence persists among the youth, even as the nation grapples with his absence.

Amisi, a vocal ODM ally and longtime supporter of Odinga—often referred to affectionately as "Baba"—took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his appreciation for such gestures.

In an October 2025 post, he thanked the youth of Trans Nzoia for their solidarity during the mourning period, stating, “Thank you, the great youth of Trans Nzoia who came singing all the way from Kitale.

For giving me a shoulder to lean on as I mourned Baba, I say thank you very much.”

While this message doesn't directly reference the T-shirts, it underscores Amisi's positive stance toward youth-led tributes, viewing them as a vital part of honoring Odinga's contributions to Kenyan democracy.

However, recent developments reveal a more complex dynamic within ODM.

As of February 2026, Amisi has voiced frustration with party insiders, whom he labels "ODM tenderpreneurs," for prioritizing personal gains over unity.

In a pointed X post, he lamented, "My brother @edwinsifuna, these ODM tenderpreneurs do not care whether the party ends up in opposition or in oblivion, as long as they make money.

Baba must be turning heavily in his grave. I now know and understand who caused Raila not to be president of Kenya. Kenya urgently needs a renaissance!"

This suggests Amisi sees the youths' symbolic acts, like wearing Raila-branded T-shirts, as a counter to internal divisions, urging a revival of Odinga's ideals rather than exploitation.
