"Bro Be Careful" Philip Aroko Sends A Strong Message To Oketch Salah Over ODM Distancing

Politician Philip Aroko on Saturday, February 7, reacted to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party’s decision to distance itself from businessman and politician Oketch Salah.

ODM, through its Chairperson Gladys Wanga, clarified on Friday that Salah’s recent activities and public engagements were undertaken in a personal capacity and did not represent the party.

In response, Aroko took to social media to address Salah directly, warning him about internal power dynamics within the party.

He suggested that party leaders, including Wanga, Kaluma, and others, may be opposed to emerging figures taking prominent roles, especially if they could challenge established interests.

Aroko highlighted that the Luo community’s political decisions in the 2027 elections could be independent, noting that voters may prioritize broad-based arrangements over individual party endorsements.

He mentioned Dr. Raymond Omollo as a strategic figure who could guide this process.

He also criticized the party’s push for zoning, calling it a move that could limit electoral gains and advising that youth engagement and accountability were essential for political progress.

Aroko’s post was firm in its support for Salah, emphasizing the need for vigilance and strategic positioning within the party to overcome internal challenges.

The comments underscore growing tensions within ODM ahead of the 2027 general elections, as high-profile figures navigate party structures, loyalty, and leadership ambitions.

Some note that such reactions reflect broader concerns about internal democracy and leadership succession within Kenyan political parties, highlighting the challenges that emerging leaders face in gaining influence and advancing their political agendas.
