Latest Online Poll Reveals the Most Preferred Presidential Candidate Ahead of 2027 Elections

A new online opinion poll circulating widely on Kenyan social media has stirred fresh debate about who should emerge as the opposition’s presidential flag bearer ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The poll, shared mainly on Facebook, attracted thousands of reactions and comments, signaling growing public curiosity about the opposition’s direction.

The exercise asked users to indicate their preferred opposition candidate, a simple question that quickly exposed deep divisions among participants.

Comment sections turned into heated battlegrounds, with supporters vigorously promoting their preferred leaders.

Four well-known political figures dominated the poll: former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, and NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua.

The range of candidates underscored the broad and diverse nature of Kenya’s opposition landscape.

From the online feedback, Fred Matiang’i appeared to command strong momentum, with many users portraying him as the most viable challenger to President William Ruto.

Some commenters went as far as predicting that the 2027 contest could narrow down to a head-to-head race between Matiang’i and the incumbent.

Kalonzo Musyoka’s supporters focused less on the poll numbers and more on his long-standing opposition credentials.

Several argued that his experience and consistency make him a stabilizing figure, regardless of online rankings.

Rigathi Gachagua’s inclusion generated intense discussion about his political future, especially following his impeachment.

While allies maintained that he still commands influence, critics questioned whether legal and constitutional hurdles could limit his ambitions.

Martha Karua drew admiration for her principles and record in public service, though many comments suggested her support was more moral than numerical.

Overall, the poll paints a picture of an energized but fragmented opposition, with online sentiment offering early signals rather than definitive answers about the 2027 race.
