“I Warned Sifuna But He Didn't Listen” - Caleb Amisi Reacts After ODM Ousted Sifuna from SG Seat

Political temperatures are rising as parties prepare for future contests and internal talks continue across the country. Recent moves inside Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have drawn fresh attention to leadership choices.

Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi said he cautioned ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna about a key action that could upset party balance. He linked the warning to later decisions within the party.

According to Amisi, the step involved allowing Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga to assume party leadership through a public ceremony. He stated that such a move would cause strain among different wings.

His remarks followed a meeting of the ODM National Executive Council which gathered to address unity and direction. Leaders planned several days of talks to shape policy and manage disputes.

At the same time, Edwin Sifuna continued activities under a separate team that held rallies and issued statements. Supporters and critics within ODM used these events to show different views.

Party members also differed on how to deal with President William Ruto government on national issues. Some leaders favored cooperation while others preferred a stronger opposition role.

Caleb Amisi said his earlier advice was meant to protect party order and avoid conflict.

He added that ignoring the caution led to current debates about the secretary general seat.

The outcome of the ongoing talks is expected to influence how ODM organizes its leadership going forward. Observers note that decisions made now will shape future cooperation and campaign plans.
