"Hii Ni Mambo Gani" Senator Onyonka Forced to Cut Short His Speech After a Large Snake Appeared While He Was Criticizing Ruto

A political gathering in Nakuru County was briefly thrown into confusion after a snake appeared while Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka was addressing residents.

The unusual incident happened during a rally attended by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and several political leaders.

The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to engage the public and discuss leadership plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to political updates from the event, Senator Onyonka had just begun criticizing the national government over issues of land ownership, corruption, and governance when the crowd suddenly became restless.

The snake was spotted moving toward a tent where many people had gathered to listen.

Fear spread quickly as residents stood up, scattered, and tried to move away from the area. Some knocked over chairs as they rushed to create space.

At first, the senator did not understand what was happening. After learning about the reptile, he asked the crowd to stay calm and assured them there was no danger.

“Please relax. There is no problem. It is just a snake and it will not harm anyone,” he said while pausing his speech.

After a few minutes, calm was restored and the meeting continued. In a moment that lightened the mood, Onyonka joked that the snake might have been sent to interrupt him, drawing laughter from sections of the audience.

Before the disruption, the senator had been urging leaders to respect the Constitution, fight corruption, and address the struggles faced by ordinary Kenyans, especially unemployed youth.

He also challenged Fred Matiang’i to offer strong leadership if he decides to run for president, saying citizens are looking for accountability, better services, and protection of public resources.

Speaking at the rally, Matiang’i promised that his focus would be on improving key sectors such as education and healthcare.

He said effective systems and proper management are needed to ensure government programs benefit citizens.

The former CS added that his experience in public service gives him a clear understanding of what needs to be fixed and how to deliver results.
