The wife of a retired Homa Bay teacher killed during a fight over a piece of land has died in hospital.
According to reports, former teacher Joseph Owuoth got into an altercation with his killer who allegedly ploughed part of his land, destroying the maize he was set to harvest.
The incident on February 1, 2026, turned tragic after Joseph was beaten and then strangled to death by his killer.
The scene was visited by senior officers who documented the tragedy.
His body was moved to the mortuary by police who called on residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
Police urged locals with any information that might assist in the ongoing investigations to come forward.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. The authorities said that he will be taken to court to face justice.
His wife, who was also assaulted during the incident, was rushed Kisii Referral Gospital. She was pronounced dead on February 3, 2026.
Among residents of Rangwe, who burnt six houses belonging to the suspect.
They accused the killer of being the aggressor for allegedly ploughing part of the deceased's land.
The family has called on friends to join the ongoing burial preparations.
