Allies of Oburu Oginga have intensified pressure on Winnie Odinga to reconsider her public support for Edwin Sifuna as divisions deepen within the Orange Democratic Movement.
The appeal was led by TJ Kajwang and supported by several leaders allied to Oburu. They argue that the ongoing standoff is hurting the party’s stability at a critical political moment.
Winnie recently appeared alongside Sifuna after his removal as ODM secretary general. Her move signaled support for the Nairobi senator, who has strongly opposed any cooperation between ODM and the ruling party. That appearance has since fueled debate within the party and among supporters.
Sifuna has been vocal against President William Ruto and has rejected any alignment with the United Democratic Alliance. His stance has placed him at the center of a growing internal conflict that now threatens to split ODM into rival camps.
Kajwang and other leaders believe Winnie should stand with her uncle, Oburu, to preserve party unity and protect the political legacy built by Raila Odinga. They maintain that internal disagreements should not weaken the party ahead of future political contests.
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi also urged the Odinga family to present a united front. She warned that mixed signals from key family members were confusing supporters and eroding confidence in the party’s direction.
