Details Emerge on What Was Agreed After South Rift ODM Delegates Met in Kericho Amid Internal Wars

New details have emerged from the South Rift Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) delegates forum held in Kericho County, shedding light on discussions that highlighted party unity, leadership affirmation, and strategic positioning ahead of the upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC).

Political commentator Abuga Makori shared key points from the meeting on Facebook, revealing the focus of the deliberations.

During the forum, senior ODM delegate Oketch Salah reportedly urged party members to remain united in the face of internal disagreements, declaring that delegates are ready for the NDC and committed to defeating what he described as betrayers within the party.

He emphasised the need to reaffirm Dr. Oburu Oginga as the legitimate ODM party leader during the upcoming conference, stressing that leadership clarity is essential for cohesion.

Salah also addressed broader political alignments, indicating that the party had been left in a state of broad-based uncertainty by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He suggested that ODM members should support President William Ruto, noting that Ruto’s manifesto aligns closely with ODM’s principles and provides an opportunity for collaboration to strengthen service delivery across the country.

He added that opposing the broad-based approach would be tantamount to going against Odinga’s own wishes.

The forum reportedly focused on strengthening ODM’s organisational structure and boosting its electoral competitiveness.

Salah called on delegates to remain calm and confident, urging them to believe in what he described as the “journey to Canaan through Dr. Oburu and President Ruto.”

Makori noted that Salah is personally investing in the party to ensure its stability and relevance during and after leadership transitions.

As the party prepares for the NDC, the Kericho forum appears to have set the tone for a renewed focus on internal cohesion, pragmatic alliances, and electoral preparedness, signaling that ODM’s South Rift delegates are actively shaping the party’s path forward amid ongoing internal debates.
