Chaos At Burial of UDA Politician Father As Goon Forces Mourners To Chant Wantam Slogan

A wave of grief and reverence swept through Marani playing grounds on Friday as mourners gathered to honor the life of Mzee John Dominic Gichana Oroni.

Mzee Gichana, father to the prominent United Democratic Alliance UDA and Kisii politician Don Bosco Gichana, was remembered as a pillar of strength and a devoted patriarch.

Speakers at the emotional ceremony painted a vivid picture of a man who lived with integrity, warmth, and generosity.

His former students and colleagues recalled his days as an English teacher, a role through which he inspired countless young minds before retiring to a quieter life in Mwembe, Kisii town.

Despite the solemnity of the occasion, a brief disruption occurred when an unruly individual caused panic among attendees.

The man, reportedly known for past misconduct, had earlier set up an unauthorized roadblock, demanding passersby chant a political slogan “Wantam” before allowing entry.

His actions sparked a violent commotion and a fierce scuffle with security chiefs and mourners.

The situation escalated as angry youths clobbered the individual before police finally intervened to arrest him, restoring order to the solemn proceedings.

Yet, the disturbance did little to overshadow the heartfelt tributes that followed.

Family members described Mzee Gichana as a pillar of strength and wisdom, whose laughter and mentorship left a lasting imprint on those around him.

Don Bosco delivered a moving eulogy, expressing the profound loss of not just a parent, but a confidant and lifelong supporter.

Mzee Gichana's legacy lives on in the lives he touched through education, community service, and the values he instilled. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
