Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has publicly come to the defence of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed following claims by Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala that Junet secretly worked with President William Ruto during the 2022 General Election.
Sudi dismissed the allegations as false and malicious, accusing Malala of attempting to gain political relevance by dragging Junet into internal political disputes linked to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In a video shared on Wednesday, January 21, the Kapseret MP strongly rebuked Malala, warning him to stop spreading what he termed as lies and political “con acts.”
“Malala, my brother, stop these con acts. Stop saying that Junet used to visit William Ruto at night,” Sudi said.
Sudi vouched for Junet’s loyalty to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, stating that despite being on opposing sides of the political divide, he had known Junet for years and believed him to be steadfast in his political commitments.
“If there is someone who hated Ruto, and I have known Junet for a long time, he has been my friend even when he was on the other side,” Sudi stated.
The outspoken MP further warned Malala against making unverified accusations, suggesting that similar behaviour had previously contributed to his political troubles.
“These lies and con ways are what pushed you home politically. Even now, I am not sure where you and your DCP colleague are headed with this kind of politics,” Sudi added.
He also cautioned Malala against interfering in what he described as internal ODM affairs, particularly matters involving Raila Odinga and his close allies.
“Leave Raila Odinga’s family alone. Let them handle their own issues. You are not the one to sort that out. But keep Junet out of it,” Sudi said.
Malala’s claims, made on Tuesday, January 20, alleged that Junet secretly collaborated with President Ruto’s camp during the 2022 election period, even as Raila Odinga led the opposition campaign.
According to Malala, Junet allegedly held late-night meetings with Ruto and shared sensitive information about ODM’s campaign strategies and internal operations. He further claimed that Junet provided details about ODM’s grassroots mobilisation, including the deployment of party agents across the country.
Malala, who was aligned with President Ruto’s camp during the 2022 elections, argued that such actions amounted to a betrayal of Raila Odinga and the ODM leadership.
The allegations have emerged at a time of heightened tension within ODM, following claims by Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna that funds allocated for party agents during the elections were misappropriated.
While Junet Mohamed has not publicly responded to Malala’s accusations, Sudi’s defence has added to the growing political exchange surrounding the claims, drawing sharp reactions across political circles.
The dispute highlights the continued fallout from the 2022 General Election and underscores deepening divisions among political actors as parties realign and position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
