The gathering drew hundreds of elders, professionals, aspirants, and youthful leaders from the Kuria community, who came to present their concerns and engage in discussions about land issues, community development, and equitable inclusion in governance.
Wamuchomba described the meeting as an opportunity to address long-standing grievances of the Kuria people, who have historically felt marginalised in government appointments and development projects.
She emphasised the need for fair representation and inclusive development across all communities.
“The delegation presented concerns relating to land, community development, and inclusion. It was humbling to join Dr. Fred Matiang’i in this dialogue and work together on issues affecting the Kuria people,” Wamuchomba said.
The MP highlighted the strong ties between the Kuria and Kisii communities and reaffirmed their collective support for Matiang’i’s presidential bid, noting the importance of unity in advancing national development and safeguarding Kenya’s achievements since independence.
Observers have noted the growing political alliance between Wamuchomba and Matiang’i. Their partnership dates back to when Wamuchomba began aligning with Matiang’i after his fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in October 2024.

Early meetings between the two were held in Karen, followed by engagements during the launch of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and at a church service in Thika, attended exclusively by the two, before Matiang’i joined the United Opposition.
Political analysts suggest that the Wamuchomba-Matiang’i alliance could extend beyond 2027, with some speculating that Wamuchomba could have been considered as Matiang’i’s running mate had he pursued the presidency earlier.
Throughout their interactions, Wamuchomba has consistently praised Matiang’i’s leadership, portraying him as a figure capable of addressing Kenya’s pressing national challenges.
