Anyone who intends to offer or accept bribes during the impending police recruitment campaign has received a strong warning from the government.
Speaking on Sunday at a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen stated that corruption in the process will not be accepted by the government.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Anyone caught bribing or accepting a bribe will be arrested,” Murkomen said.
He encouraged Kenyans to use their phones to record and report any incidents of bribery they witness during the exercise.
According to the CS, citizens are often quick to record politicians but remain silent when it comes to exposing corruption in public offices.
Additionally, Murkomen instructed recruitment officers to ensure that each center finished the exercise by 5 p.m.
He went on to say that the list of qualified applicants ought to be released as soon as the procedure is complete.
"We would like local communities to assist us in conducting this exercise.
Record anyone you witness exchanging money and give the authorities the proof," he continued.
The Interior Chief Secretary assured Kenyans that strict measures had been put in place to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has announced that the nationwide recruitment will begin on November 17, 2025.
Candidates must be Kenyan nationals between the ages of 18 and 28, have a mean KCSE grade of D+, and have at least a D+ in either English or Kiswahili.
Applicants must arrive by 8 a.m. with all necessary documentation.
