NEWS IN: Ruto Exposes Conditions Gachagua Gave Him Before Allowing Mt Kenya People To Vote For Him

President William Ruto has made strong claims against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying he once demanded personal loyalty before political support.

Speaking during a public event, Ruto claimed that Gachagua told him to “kneel and worship him” before he could be allowed to seek votes from Mt Kenya residents in the 2027 elections.

The President said such demands have no place in modern leadership, insisting that leaders should not treat political support as something that comes from personal loyalty or pressure.

Ruto said it is only the people who will decide who to vote for based on development and service delivery, not based on individual leaders’ demands or influence.

“Leadership is decided by the people. It is not about kneeling for anyone or being forced to show loyalty to individuals,” Ruto said.

He added that every leader must respect democracy and allow citizens to make their own choices freely during elections.

The remarks come at a time when tensions continue to rise between Ruto and his former deputy, with both sides exchanging strong political statements in recent weeks.

Gachagua has been vocal in Mt Kenya politics, often positioning himself as a key figure in the region’s leadership, while also criticizing some decisions within the Kenya Kwanza government.

Ruto, however, maintained that his government remains focused on development across the country and will not be distracted by political disagreements.

He urged leaders to focus on serving citizens rather than engaging in personal disputes, saying that Kenya’s future will be determined by performance, not political pressure.

The comments are likely to add more heat to the ongoing political debate in Mt Kenya as leaders continue to differ over influence and support ahead of the 2027 elections.
