"Ata Uombe Aje Bado Wewe Ni 1 Term" Kenyans React After Governor Wavinya Ndeti Releases Easter Public Statement

Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has recently faced public criticism following an Easter message she shared on her official Facebook page.

The post, published shortly before the holiday, was intended to convey a message of faith and service but instead drew mixed reactions from online audiences.

In her statement, Ndeti reflected on the religious significance of the Easter period, particularly emphasizing the meaning behind Holy Thursday.

She noted that the day commemorates the establishment of the Eucharist and highlights the importance of priestly duty within the Christian faith.

The governor encouraged individuals to embrace compassion and selflessness, reminding them that acts of service toward others are a reflection of devotion to God.

She included a biblical reference to reinforce her message:

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40 NIV "

Additionally, she stated:

"On this Holy Thursday we celebrate the institution of the Eucharist, Kuwekwa kwa Ekaristi, and the priestly service it represents. May we remember that serving others is serving God, reflecting His love in every act of kindness."

Ndeti concluded her message by extending well wishes to the public, expressing hope that people would experience a meaningful and blessed Holy Thursday alongside the broader Easter Triduum celebrations. She wrote:

"Wishing you all a blessed Holy Thursday and Easter Triduum blessings"

Despite the intended spiritual tone of the post, a section of Kenyan Facebook users responded critically.

Much of the backlash appears to stem from a recent controversy involving comedian Sammy Kioko, who was reportedly assaulted over an alleged unpaid debt.

Some commenters urged the governor to resolve the issue before sharing religious messages, while others expressed skepticism about her political future.

One user remarked, "Ata uombe ni one term," suggesting that even prayers would not secure her re-election in 2027.

The incident has sparked broader discussion online, with many users sharing differing perspectives on the governor’s message and the surrounding controversy.
