Outspoken political activist Nuru Okang’a—once known as a fierce supporter of Raila Odinga—has shared a warm and unexpected moment with the family of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Okang’a recently spent time at the Wamunyoro residence of Gachagua, where he was hosted by the former DP’s spouse, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
The visit, which he openly documented, has sparked conversations online, especially given his political past and strong public persona.
Taking to social media, Okang’a expressed his gratitude and excitement, revealing that he would be spending the night in Wamunyoro.
“Leo nalala Wamunyoro, a good place,” he wrote, praising Pastor Dorcas for her hospitality. He went on to describe the meal he was served—ugali and kuku—as “so sweet,” adding humorously that the experience made him feel like he was back home in Kakamega, despite being in Nyeri.
The activist didn’t stop there. He also extended appreciation to Rigathi Gachagua himself, thanking him for the warm welcome and referring to him respectfully by his title.
His message carried a deeper tone as he addressed tribal stereotypes, stating, “Whoever said Kikuyus hate Luhyas is so evil.”
The visit has ignited mixed reactions online, with some applauding the gesture as a symbol of unity and others questioning the sudden shift in political alignment.
Regardless of interpretation, the moment highlights a softer, more personal side of Kenya’s often heated political landscape—where shared meals and hospitality can momentarily bridge even the widest divides.
Whether symbolic or simply social, Okang’a’s Wamunyoro stay is now the talk of the town.
