"Ruto Has Failed As A President, Now Wants To Be A Village Elder To Solve Family Issues" Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has strongly criticised President William Ruto following a family dispute that has now spilled into public debate.

The row comes after members of Gachagua’s late brother’s family reportedly wrote to President Ruto asking for help to recover properties they claim were taken from them.

The letter has sparked political tension, with Gachagua accusing the President of interfering in private family matters for political reasons.

Speaking during a public event on March 28, 2026, Gachagua did not hold back. He described President Ruto as “confused” and accused him of discussing issues that do not concern him.

According to Gachagua, it is wrong for a sitting president to involve himself in personal family disagreements.

Gachagua argued that the matter being raised is a family issue that should be handled internally, not through political channels. He warned the President to keep off his family affairs, saying that dragging such matters into public discourse is disrespectful and unnecessary.

He further criticised Ruto’s leadership, claiming the President has failed to address key national issues affecting Kenyans. Gachagua said instead of focusing on governance, Ruto is now acting like a “village elder” trying to solve family disputes.

The former deputy president also suggested that the allegations made by his brother’s family are politically motivated. He claimed that some individuals are being used to tarnish his name and weaken his political influence.

The dispute has attracted mixed reactions from the public, with some calling for investigations into the claims, while others believe leaders should avoid involving family matters in politics.

As the situation unfolds, it is likely to deepen the growing political rift between Gachagua and President Ruto, raising questions about unity within Kenya’s leadership.
