Manyora Explains A Grave Mistake Winnie Odinga Did After Attending ODM's SDC Meeting At Jamuhuri

Political analyst Herman Manyora has criticised Winnie Odinga for attending a rival Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) meeting, describing her move as a serious political misstep.

Speaking on March 29, 2026, Manyora argued that Winnie’s decision to attend the Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Jamhuri Grounds instead of a Linda Mwananchi faction event sent the wrong message.

According to him, her presence gave legitimacy to what he termed a flawed and irregular process within the party.

Manyora warned that history could judge Winnie harshly, especially given her close association with her father, Raila Odinga.

He claimed that by participating in the meeting, she appeared to support actions that could weaken ODM’s legacy and internal democratic structures.

The analyst further questioned the legitimacy of the NDC, pointing out that it lacked key procedural requirements.

He noted that the absence of the party’s secretary general—who is responsible for maintaining the official delegates’ list—raised doubts about the credibility of those who attended. In his view, any resolutions made during such a gathering could be considered questionable.

Manyora also highlighted contradictions in Winnie’s stance. While she spoke about unity, youth inclusion, and democracy, he argued that her attendance at the event undermined those very principles.

He claimed that several youthful and dissenting leaders within ODM, including Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, and Babu Owino, were being sidelined, which conflicted with the message of inclusivity.

Additionally, Manyora suggested that Winnie’s actions signaled acceptance of ongoing leadership changes in the party changes she had previously questioned.

He referenced the swift transition attempts following Raila Odinga’s political shift, arguing that such processes lacked transparency and proper consultation.

Manyora accused Winnie of disappointing both the ODM movement and supporters who believed in her leadership potential.

He warned that aligning with what he termed a flawed process could damage not only her political future but also the legacy of the Odinga family in Kenyan politics.
