Controversial city preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari is trending online again after showing support to Marion Naipei, the woman who recently went viral on social media.
In a video circulating online, the pastor met with Naipei as she opened up about her struggles and her desire to rebuild her life. During the meeting, Kanyari gave her KSh20,000 in cash to help address some of her immediate needs.
The pastor also made a bigger promise that caught the attention of many viewers. He said he plans to buy Naipei a brand-new car so she can start working as an Uber driver and earn a stable income.
Kanyari explained that empowering people with opportunities to make a living is more helpful than offering temporary financial aid. According to him, providing a car for ride-hailing services could give Naipei a sustainable way to support herself and become financially independent.
The announcement quickly generated mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans praised the pastor for helping someone who appears to be in need, while others questioned whether the promise of a car would actually be fulfilled.
Supporters of the gesture said helping someone start a business is one of the most effective ways to uplift a struggling person. Meanwhile, critics urged Kanyari to make sure the promise becomes a reality, noting that public pledges often raise expectations.
Despite the debate on social media, Naipei appeared grateful in the video. She thanked the pastor for the assistance and said she hopes the opportunity will help her change her life for the better.
