A recent online poll by K24 TV has sparked intense political debate after placing former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at the top of voter preference.
The survey, which asked Kenyans who they would support if an election were held today, shows Matiang’i attracting 52 percent of the votes from participants.
President William Ruto follows in second place with 20 percent, while Kalonzo Musyoka garnered 16 percent. Martha Karua rounds off the list with 12 percent, highlighting the competition among well-known leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Within the first eight hours, more than 4,000 Kenyans participated in the poll, reflecting strong public interest in leadership choices as the country prepares for the next election cycle.
The results quickly became a topic of discussion across social media platforms, with supporters interpreting the figures in different ways.
Backers of Matiang’i celebrated the outcome, pointing to his extensive public service and describing him as firm, results-driven, and capable of strengthening institutions.
Many say his popularity in the poll reflects a growing desire among voters for decisive leadership and accountability.
Meanwhile, supporters of President Ruto cautioned that online surveys may not represent the broader electorate.
They argued that digital polls tend to capture the views of younger, urban populations and may not fully reflect opinions in rural areas, where voter dynamics can be different.
Kalonzo Musyoka’s supporters expressed optimism, citing his long-standing relevance in national politics, while Martha Karua’s backers emphasized her loyal base and commitment to reform.
The poll illustrates the growing role of online platforms in shaping political conversations, offering a glimpse into public sentiment even as campaign strategies and regional dynamics will ultimately determine the election outcome.
